As part of Phase 1 of the Cathedral Restoration Project, Environmental Protection Glazing is being installed to all of our beautiful stained-glass windows. This double-glazing is a major element of our sustainability goals – it’ll help us to properly insulate the cathedral, keeping heat in while preserving the original Victorian windows.
Last year we showed our contractors tracing each stained-glass window in preparation for the new glazing. The talented folks over at Barley Studios are now carrying out this delicate work, which involves tracing, cutting and leading the glass that will form the outer part of the windows. The original glass will be moved a few centimetres inward to accommodate the outer glazing.
