As you will now be aware there has been a proposal to amalgamate the Cathedral parish – St.John the Evangelist – with the parish of St.Joseph’s. You can download the letter from Bishop John Arnold here.
As we enter into a period of consultation we want to hear from as many of our parishioners as possible – from across both parishes.
How will the consultation process take place?
This consultation process regarding the specific proposed amalgamation of the Cathedral parish of St. John the Evangelist, Salford and St. Joseph’s parish, Ordsall, will be carried out in the following ways:
At two open parish meetings, in small groups and/or by written response you can also fill out this online questionnaire.
The map of the new parish boundary is available on the notice board at the back of each church for parishioners to examine and we encourage you to reflect on the questions below.
Parish Open Meetings and Online Survey
We have now held our two parish meetings and collected ideas and responses from each of the parishes. Further to this we now invite those of you who did not attend to please complete this online questionnaire as openly and honestly as you can. All answers are confidential. This questionnaire will be open until the end of August and we will collate responses along with those taken from the parish meetings to inform our report.
We encourage as many of you as possible to put forward your views, so that we can begin to reflect together on the proposed amalgamation.
You can access the questionnaire here
Finally, may I encourage all of us during this time of consultation to be guided by the light of the Holy Spirit in all our deliberations as we begin our work towards the unity of our two parishes.
Fr. Michael
